What my Imperial MiM admits had in common

On Imperial’s video interview, the clock keeps changing. Some questions give you five seconds to think and one minute to answer. Others give you two minutes. It’s where a lot of strong MSc Management applicants slip.

But first, your application has to earn the interview. Here’s what my Imperial admits had in common:

1. Active undergrad CVs. Respected internships and real student leadership, meaning a role where they ran something, not a list of clubs.

2. Proof of quant ability. Most never submitted a GMAT or GRE. Their transcripts showed B+ or higher in courses like calculus, statistics, economics, and finance. If your background is less quantitative, a GMAT Focus score of 555 or higher can close that gap.

3. Essays about giving back. Imperial wants people who will contribute to the cohort and the community long after graduation. In your “Why Imperial” essay, name what you’ll do for your classmates, then show something you’ve already done that proves it.

Round 2 closes January 6, and I usually recommend applying in the middle rounds.

In this week’s video, I walk through all three essays and exactly how to practice for that interview clock.

Watch it → HERE.

That’s it for this week.

Keep showing up, keep cheering each other on — and as always, happy applying! 💛

Here’s what most people miss: LSE isn’t a business school. It’s a social science university with a management department, and it reads your application on academic merit, not your career story. That changes three things: 1. Your statement is academic....
Why LBS rejects MiM applicants who had the grades
If London Business School is on your MiM list, here's something the rankings and the forums won't tell you. Most of the people who get rejected had the grades. Many had the test score. What they were missing is the thing LBS weighs more heavily than almost any other school: employability. LBS thinks like a job recruiter. After years of admits across their programs, the pattern is clear. They ca...
What Kira is actually grading (it isn't your English)
If a Kira interview is sitting in your inbox this cycle, take a breath. I recorded a new video recently that walks through the whole thing, and I want to give you the most important piece right here. Most applicants assume Kira is a test of polish. It isn't. You get a question, typically 5 to 20 seconds to think, then 60 to 90 seconds to answer. One attempt. The questions come from a bank, so y...
